There was an interesting programme on channel 4 the other night putting a group of back pain sufferers into three groups and comparing Osteopathy, Physiotherapy and Yoga (but you could equally use my classes in place of that as it’ll about tailored movement).
The programme is still available on More4 if you wanted to watch it and I have put a link below for you to find it.
You can fast forward the boring bits but it does show the approach all these professionals are trained to take. I don’t think people that have not experienced Osteopathy, know the sort of approach that they take and think it’s all about ‘cracking’ which it’s not – Chiropractic treatment tends to do that more.
There was improvement across all the groups and I wasn’t at all surprised at the results for it is the combination I so often suggest. My classes are all very well but if you are out of alignment we can only achieve so much.
In case you don’t want to watch the programme I’ll give you the results: in fourth place Physiotherapy, in third place the exercise class, and in second place Osteopathy and the winner in first place again Osteopathy. The gentleman in first place had had 75% improvement in his symptoms.
It was not a huge sample group but quite a reasonable size and as I said everyone improved no matter which of these groups they were put in. With a combination of these therapies, hopefully, the results are even better.
