Before starting Vicky’s classes I had constant pain in my right shoulder.
I had no reservations about working with Vicky.
Joining the class has been great. It’s a really friendly group, a relaxed atmosphere and when your arms and legs go completely in the wrong direction, you don’t feel a total fool – well no one makes you feel like this!!
The best thing about working with Vicky is that I have no more shoulder pain and definitely feel less shredded after having a class.
I have been attending Vickys Pilates classes for almost 5 years. My neck and shoulder were very tight and I found it hard to slow down.
I was suffering from frequent headaches because of this.
I am a beauty therapist and have many clients, I always had an acute backache at the end of the day due to my poor posture. The Pilates classes are small and friendly.
Vicky has an excellent knowledge of the mechanics of the body and always notices when someone in the class is doing a move incorrectly. Vicky will correct them or show them something else they can do instead if they have an injury which is always helpful.
When I am in the Pilates class I now know how to slow down as Pilates Is a smooth slow controlled movement and never fast.
My shoulder and neck are a lot less tense with hardly any headaches. I definitely have a stronger back and extremely rare that I get a backache.
My posture has improved so I am very pleased with the difference regular Pilates has made to my life.
I highly recommend Vicky’s pilates to maintain a more flexible strong body
On a walking holiday in 2014 I noticed that dismounting from styles, or any other jolt, caused me a lot of lower back pain. X-Rays taken after my return home showed that I had arthritis in the lower spine.
My Osteopath advised me to try Pilates to strengthen my core, thereby supporting my lower back therefore I had no reservations about attending Pilates classes.
Attendance on a regular basis with the class means that the necessary exercises are performed. I don’t think that would be true if I only did them at home. The class that I attend has a bit of banter and whilst I tune a lot of this out, it does maintain a friendly atmosphere.
The main result of my attendance of Pilates classes has been the elimination of the back pain caused by jarring my back. This means that can go on my annual walking holiday with my old friends and any local walks throughout the year.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I was concerned as I had very little confidence in trying something exercise wise, that I hadn’t done before.
Due to a long term back problem, I was very concerned about making the pain worse, doing more damage. I needed to sort it out, but was reticent to go out of my comfort zone.
I feel I can come to a class and feel supported. Vicky is aware of the issues and gently pushes me to go further.
The best thing is that I have more confidence in my abilities. Even if there has been muscle pain, I recover and come back to the class, knowing it is the best thing to be doing long term. I feel braver!
I came to Vicky halfway through treatment for a bad back. Although I was mobile, movement was difficult and I was feeling a little down because of it.
In the past, I have always gravitated towards cardio exercise. I thought this is what you needed to do in order to keep your health in check. Working with Vicky and starting Pilates has changed my view on this. I have been taking classes for around 4 years now and not only has my shape changed but I feel so much stronger as well (physically and mentally). I don’t have any back pain now and I have started running again.
Vicky is a great instructor. The classes are relaxed and welcoming. That is very much down to her style of teaching and the other people in the class; classes bring a great mix of people together drawn from different ages and genders. Her classes suit all abilities with new starters exercising alongside others who have been there for longer. Vicky knows when it’s time to stretch you and she always encourages you to go a bit extra. Exercise is fun and enjoyable and it is something that I look forward to every week.
The best result you have got from working together is that I am stronger mentally and physically I feel ready and more able to take on the challenges of life as an when they present themselves!
Before we started working together I suffered from aching in my hips/pelvic area and was extremely stiff
I had no reservations at all about working with you as you have an excellent reputation and I was confident that you would be able to help me.
I am thoroughly enjoying the classes. As well as being very informative, they are fun and I like the relaxed approach that you have, always making sure that everyone is comfortable and ensuring that any new health issues are brought to your attention. With your care and attention to peoples’ needs. I always feel that I am in good hands and will not injure myself.
The best result from working together is that y hips and pelvis are SO much better and I can now move a lot more freely.
Before I started working with Vicky I had very stiff shoulder and neck area. It’s a to easier to manage now and so I’m not so stiff. I find that Vicky’s classes are full of fun and she is a very open person. I like her as an instructor as she has got great knowledge she doesn’t mind you asking questions. The best thing I have found that my overall flexibility is much better.
I have had a chronic a back condition for many, many years involving damage to a number of discs, surrounding tissue etc. My mobility and posture have been severely affected.
“Over the years I have received treatment from a variety of different practitioners and been ‘written off’ by some. My treatment has also included surgery. I have tried some Pilate’s type exercises provided by NHS Physios which helped but it was never enough. I must admit to being a bit skeptic as to how things would work out. “
“Why Vicky? It was very much a case of having a conversation with the right person and coming along for a ‘taster session’. I have found Vicky above all to be friendly, caring and professional. Her sessions, all be it in a group, for me feel very ‘individual’. The experience that Vicky has obtained through her differing fields of work shine through in the way that she conducts the sessions.I have been attending sessions for several years now and have found them to be of great benefit. I still have pain but I now feel considerably more mobile, I hesitate to use the word ‘agile’ but who knows what may happen in the future”.
Vicky is highly regarded as one of the finest instructors in the local area. Her teaching abilities and concentration to detail are what makes Vicky so well respected by everyone in the industry. Vicky has taken her business to a complete new level and would recommend her for any of her classes that she teaches

Before starting Vicky’s classes I had back pain which came and went every couple of months which certainly slowed me down.
I was concerned before I started that I would be the only man in a class of girls but they have made me welcome and I don’t feel the odd one out.
Working together has been fine. Vicky looks upon us as individuals even though we are one class and gives us individual attention.
The best thing about working with Vicky is although I still get back pain it is not nearly as bad. it might be a bit uncomfortable for a day but then it’s gone again. all in all it’s done me quite a lot of good.
I have a form of arthritis of the spine which limits my spinal movement.
My reservations were, that would I be the ‘wally in the classroom’ and that I would be worse than anyone else. I was also worried in case there would be any discomfort from Pilates.
Vicky has disproved the argument of ‘no pain no gain!’ I do not experience any discomfort, in fact within hours of doing Pilates I feel generally more flexible in my body and better all ‘round which, it seems, for little effort on my part.
The atmosphere in the class is very friendly and easy going, and unhurried.
The best thing about the class is, as already stated, that even after one hour of pilates I quickly feel the benefits.
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 18 years ago. I as I rely on walking, gardening and housework for exercise Vicky suggested that I would benefit from Pilates; so when she decided to start a class locally I was one of the first to join.
I am enjoying the class with a friendly group. Vicky passes on her extensive knowledge of the benefits of Pilates in class and in regular newsletters. She also demonstrates varying degree of difficulty in some exercises to suit all abilities.
Attending the weekly class has made me aware of the importance of exercise to help retain my mobility.
My only reservations were that being me being an uncoordinated type of person, that I would look out of place and it wouldn’t be for me. I was worried that it could have the potential to make my injuries worse if I didn’t do the exercises correctly. I needn’t have been worried. Vicky takes the time to understand the individuals’ issues and keeps an eye on newcomers in particular. Different levels of difficulty are added for exercises so that you can do more if you’re able to.
I literally hobbled into my first session with limited mobility from my recent bout of back pain. I noticed straight after that it had benefitted me, even just crossing the road after the session.
Vicky also recommended a really good osteopath and that has also significantly helped.
I work in London so come straight from the train station (Three Bridges is across the road), get changed at the hall and straight into the class. I’ve been coming to classes for over a year and my mobility and core strength is much improved. Unfortunately, there is no hope for my coordination, there are some things that just cannot be helped!
The best result from my attendance at Vicky’s classes is that I’ve been able to manage my injuries and this has meant that I’ve been able to exercise regularly without disruption caused by having to rest injuries or be in pain. As a result, I’ve been able to train well this year with the benefit of losing some weight and completing the London Marathon in April.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I was not as mobile or flexible I had no was concerns about working with Vicky. Working together has been really great and I enjoy the classes
The best thing about working with Vicky is how much better I feel for it.
I wasn’t concerned about starting as my wife Justine recommended Vicky! I was more concerned as to whether a weekly Pilates would do me good!
Working together has been very enjoyable. It’s good fun, lighthearted and Vicky knows what I can and can’t do!
Vicky has enabled me to have more back movement and the exercises we carry out are designed to ease my back stiffness.
Before I started with Vicky I was very stiff with chronic back and neck pain and reluctant to bend and stretch in case I did any further harm.
I was anxious initially that I would be asked to perform manoeuvres that I would be unable to do. I had watched YouTube videos and some of the movement looked beyond me
Vicky is very informal, and an exceedingly knowledgeable lady, particularly with her anatomy. One of the things I enjoy particularly is that she has an interest in all her clients and knows their aches and pains. So much so she knows how far to push them.
Vicky is passionate about her work and that is demonstrated time and again throughout he classes. My back pain has lessened considerably and so has my core muscle which I thought had disappeared forever.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had lower back ache after running plus shoulder and neck ache which used to get worse after lifting weights and general work around the house.
I was concerned that this was not Pilates as I knew it and would it actually benefit me and were my symptoms severe enough to feel the benefits of this style of Pilates.
Working together has been comforting, relaxing and educational. She pays attention to all in the class and has a good balance of chat and working out.
The best thing about working with Vicky is my lower back pain has subsided and I feel stronger when I work out especially when lifting weights.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had lower back pain and stiff joints. I was worried I would not keep up with the class but Vicky has helped me a great deal.
Working together has been fun and very relaxed and I can feel the difference when I miss a class.
The best thing about working with Vicky is that my back pain is a lot better and I have more balance.
Having been a member of a gym where Vicky was an instructor I feel i have known her forever. My years of riding horses had taken its toll. With Sam McInerney (osteopath) and Vicky’s attention to detail I knew I was in good hands.
Working together can’t be bad as I have been with her for years!
The best thing about working with Vicky is keeping my body in one piece.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had low confidence and a desire to tone my body after losing 3 stone but I didn’t want to join a gym. I pushed myself to contact Vicky and have not regretted it.
I was nervous as I am not very co-ordinated and very self-conscious. Vicky made me feel at ease form her first email and I love the relaxed feel to the 6.30 Monday group. Vicky has accepted that I mix up left and right (in fact she doesn’t use left and right anymore). Any reservations disappeared within 5 minutes of my trial session.
I actually look forward to 6.30pm on Mondays – it’s not a chore. I feel great and my body is relaxed after a session. I have recommended Vicky’s session to 2 of my friends and they have both joined and are enjoying it. Vicky is very knowledgeable, experienced and adapts things to suit individual needs and conditions.
The best thing about working with Vicky is I genuinely feel better about myself. I feel I am not too old to wear pink lycra with the new found confidence I have gained. I joined as I wanted to tone up after losing 3 stone in weight but was not comfortable joining a gym. Vicky’s sessions are fun informative and I truly feel I am toning at long last.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had injured my shoulder in a fall a couple of years before. Thereafter I had limited use of my upper arm/shoulder. There were signs of osteoarthritis in the joints and the rest of my body was stiff particularly my knees. I was generally beginning to feel my age and consulted an osteopath. She recommended that I took up Pilates as a form of gentle exercise and told me about Fitness Function.
As I live in Horsham I thought I would find a class local to me. However I soon realised that I needed more attention than that given in a large class. I thought I’d give Vicky’s class a try as she offered a free ‘taster’ session and I haven’t looked back since.
Working together has been a very positive experience. The classes are fairly small and I am given sufficient attention without making me feel self conscious. We are given different levels of exercise and we choose how far we wish to challenge ourselves. The people are friendly and welcoming and there is always a lot of humour.
I have throughly enjoyed working with Vicky to make my body more flexible. I feel I am reaping the benefits of regular exercise.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I hadn’t really exercised for 10 years following a cardiac arrest and the fitting of an I.C.D. (internal defibrillator). Needed to do something. The nurse at my Drs surgery suggested I try Vicky’s classes.
I was concerned because previous fitness classes wouldn’t entertain me due to the I.C.D..
I love the classes. There has been a big improvement in all areas, especially my left arm which I can now raise and turn with ease.
The best thing about working with Vicky is getting fit and the reassurance of Vicky’s medical background.
When I was introduced to Vicky’s call in Feb 2014 I had spent most of 2013 recovering from a major operation. I felt I needed to join the Pilates class to regain most lost strewth and to tone up.
The only reservation I had at first was that what if I couldn’t deal or do the tummy exercises after my ops but with Vicky’s nursing/medical experience and knowledge she was able to advise me when doing the exercises.
Her classes are not only beneficial but also great fun, and she is aware of everyones weaknesses and looks over you and allows you to ‘do what you can manage’ She is a good teacher and very experienced in what she does. Although I had to leave after two years in 2016 I have returned to the class and hope to continue for a long time to come.
Over the years my lower back has given me pain on and off but the Pilates really helps to keep my posture in check and it strengthens my back. It also tones my legs and bottom!
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had bouts of back pain for the past 20 years and recently neck and shoulder pain. Last summer I missed a cycling holiday in France with some good friends due to a bad bout of back pain just before the holiday. As walking and cycling are both important to me I was determined to try and sort out these problems. I was advised regular pilates so I decided to try Vicky’s classes. After 10 months of classes I have recently been cycling in France (touring). I cycled about 120 miles in 3.5 days without any physical problems. So I feel well pleased with myself and must give credit to Vicky’s classes for me achieving this much improved fitness and mobility.
I had previously tried Pilates for the over 50’s at K2 but food the classes too crowded (we kept bumping/knocking each other) and also too impersonal. Vicky knows all her clients and tries to incorporate exercises to suit each persons problems/needs.
I’m not very good at working/exercising on my own so it’s good to have a structured class for Vicky to show us the exercises and make sure that we are doing them correctly.
The best thing about working with Vicky is that I have not had a repeat of my back or shoulder pain since starting Pilates – except when overdoing it by painting the living room ceiling!
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had been exercising regularly and pushing myself to get better at cycling. I had stiffness and problems with my hip/lower back. I wouldn’t say I was stretching as much as I should do.
I had no concerns about working with Vicky as she had covered at class at Nuffield Health and I liked her directive, friendly style.
Working together is a real benefit to me and I value the classes. By committing to attending once a week I know I do things that help my body get/remain stronger. She brings a sense of humour that enriches the experience.
The best thing about working with Vicky is an overall sense of well-being and improvement in awareness of my posture and body.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had been looking for a local Pilates class (independent of the gym) for over a year after my previous teacher had stopped offering classes. During that year I had noticed the difference in my body, in terms of flexibility and tone.
It’s always a little odd getting used to a new class – the different approaches that teachers have but I immediately took to Vicky’s warm open personality and her zany/quirky delivery!
I thoroughly enjoy Vicky’s classes they are fun, friendly and chatty classes. Vicky shares her knowledge of anatomy and physiology and the effect her exercises have on areas of the body. This makes the class all the more interesting and educational.
The best thing about working with Vicky is that over the last two years I have noticed a more toned stomach and my back/spine has strengthened too (that’s two things I know).
Having been a committed cyclist for most of my life I was becoming increasing aware of a lack of mobility in my upper body. After some consternation I thought I would attend Pilates Class with Vicky. I needn’t have worried, my main concerns about being the a predominately female environment were soon dispelled.
More recently I have suffered my specific problems with my back which caused me to seek out Physios/Osteopaths. To be honest I didn’t pursue them for long, preferring to continue with further pilates classes as they seemed to give better relief to my issues (and cheaper). I think you need to attend at least once a week and back this up with further stretches at home on a regular basis.
Before starting Vicky’s classes I had very stiff shoulders and problems with my back and hips,
I was concerned whether I could do the classes or not and being flexible enough.
Working together has been brilliant. She asks the class if we have any issues i.e. neck, joints, muscular, stress and then tries to incorporate exercises into the class that will help.
The best thing about working with Vicky is that my core muscles have strengthened and my muscles have stretched so my hips don’t hurt as much. My joints have eased too as well as my shoulder muscles and I can stretch further.
Working with Vicky has changed my life, I have been able to gain core strength and become more active. Having attended classes once a week for 9 months I changed to coming twice a week and saw a greater improvement in my range of movement. I then had to consider surgery for spinal stenosis diagnosis. Vicky was very supportive and helped with a one to one session, posture assessment and recommendation of an osteopath while I considered my decision.
Eventually, I decided that surgery was the only option, and although frightened felt well supported by advice from Vicky and friends. Following surgery the fact that my core was strong from 2 years of Pilates and this definitely aided my recovery. The physiotherapy I received post operation under NHS care were very limited and I found that my previous training from Vicky in Pilates and core strengthening exercises were invaluable. Within 3 months I was able to return to weekly, then twice weekly classes with Vicky. She has always been very reasonable in her approach taking care to ensure that exercises are done correctly and frequently asking if individuals with specific problems are ok with various exercises or finding alternative levels to work for everyone.
My return to fitness after my operation and continued core strength which has helped immensely with my back problems
Before I started coming to Vicky’s classes I did not have any muscular problems. I have joined the class for convenience being in a walking distance from home and to try something different as I did not do Pilates before. I have actually firstly joined Vicky’s yoga class because I did yoga before and felt the benefits of doing it. She had to drop out the class as it was not very popular with people.
I did not have any reservations about working with Vicky; I looked up Fitness-Function website and felt that it is going to do good to me.
Going to Vicky’s classes has been relaxing and mood changing because it has taken away the tension in my body after hours of sitting at a desk. I like the fact that Vicky changes the routine from class to class and shares with us news about health/diet. She also shows and tells us how different muscles are called and how they work.
The best result for me it has been the routines I have learned from Vicky and I do home in the morning or evening and at weekends. It has also been the knowledge I have had now about the body, muscles and how important is to stay active.
Before we started working together I had not been exercising regularly for some time (2-3 years) due to a knee injury and although a light walker and occasional swimmer had developed intermittent sciatica.
I didn’t have any reservations about working with Vick. I had been highly recommended Vicky from a couple of neighbours. Working full-time in London I am limited to a later evening class and Vicky has been able to offer a switch on the occasions when I have needed to change.
Working together has been fun and enjoyable. The classes are geared to all levels of ability with Vicky offering targeted exercises to suit each of us individually and to address our specific needs, which may change on a weekly basis. Travel stress in 2016 has been high for me, as well as that from my job, and the exercises on the roller have been particularly helpful and relaxing.
The one best result from working together has been the disappearance of sciatica! It was some weeks before I realised that I had not had any further ‘attacks’. The second best result is the relaxation I derive from roller-based exercises.
Before I started Pilates classes with Vicky, I had suffered a back injury as a nurse- ending up with a prolapsed disc of the lumbar spine. This injury meant I had lots of pain both in my lower back and down the left leg from sciatica as the bulging disc pressed on a nerve. I had some physiotherapy, acupuncture and an injection in my spine, none of which did very much to help- but I had then been told I would just have to live with it. I found lots of things difficult to do and could not bend forward from the waist very far, could not sit down for very long periods in cars/office/cinema/theatre/at home and had to be very careful lifting even quite light things. I was on quite a lot of pain relief medication and used a TENS machine regularly.
The main worry I had before joining the class was the fear of doing more damage and causing even more pain- and therefore having more difficulty in my daily life. I think it is fair to say I was very guarded in my movements and very hesitant to try anything new- especially as nothing had worked before.
Vicky took her time to find out what was wrong with me before I started , and how this affected me- and she always asks at the beginning of each class if anyone has any new pain or injury to report. She is always telling us to work at our own pace and only do as much as is comfortable for any problem we may have. The classes are relaxed, friendly and enjoyable with lovely gentle background music -and Vicky keeps her eye on us to make sure we are doing the exercises correctly. She incorporates lots of different things into her class, with Yoga, trigger point work, activations and stretches blended in with more traditional Pilates movements.
I come out of each class feeling a lot more ‘fluid’, loose and mobile in my spine and body as a whole! I then take less pain relief and am more confident generally. I think the proof is in the fact that if I have to miss the class for any reason ( for example holidays or sickness) then I notice a big difference in my lower back plus my ability to sit down for long periods – and I get more pain. My back and core muscles are stronger as a result of the classes. I find Vicky to be motivational and caring in her approach and quite simply, the classes work for me. I would recommend anyone to come along and try this for themselves!
My reservations were that I used to go to a Pilates class for Horse Rider improvement, run by an equine physiotherapist. I was unsure if Vicky’s classes would help me progress my riding and make looking after my horse easier.
The best thing about the classes are that they are fun, inspiring and really helped my riding. I really appreciate how Vicky gets to know all her customers and helps with individual complaints (where possible) in class.
The best result from working together is that I find I can take better care of my horse on my own. My husband used to help me regularly but now only comes when he wants. I have started competing again which I love.
For many years before starting your class, I had coped with recurring sciatica and an arthritic hip. All kept under control by sitting correctly at work and performing a few stretching exercises. However, upon retirement, trying to be more active, I realised how stiff and painful my joints had become and decided something had to be done.
From the first time you saw me you recognised that my pelvis had become twisted, and suggested I might benefit from treatment with an osteopath in order to get the best results from the pilates.
You recommended David Such, who confirmed your diagnosis, and has been able to restore pain free movement for me.
I never expected such care and professional interest in my condition, when I joined your class and am truly grateful for your attention and advice.
I know I am in good hands in your pilates class, and can now look forward to a long and active retirement.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Last year I hurt my back and I can honestly say I thought that was how live was going to be. After a few months I know something had to change, I was scared to move, I had no confidence in my back as every little move just left me in pain.
I felt quite anxious when I first turned up, not knowing if I would be able to keep up, or even understand how to do the exercises, but you were very clear in explaining and demonstrating the exercise at different levels, which was perfect for me, as I was a complete beginner.
I really look forward to coming to your class, I have every confidence in you, as you are very professional and understanding that we all have different problems and you work according to each individual’s needs.
The best thing since coming to your Pilates classes I have gained more confidence not only in my back but in myself. My flexibility is much better and my back is so much stronger, and that is all thanks to you. Thank you.
“Before we started working together my recovery from running was longer and I had a limited knowledge of stretches. My core was not as strong as it is now and I was not as conscious of my posture especially in the workplace.
I didn’t have any reservations about starting, as after I spoke to Vicky about my initial enquiry and learnt that she worked with runners I was excited to join the class.
It’s been wonderful working together. I have learnt so much about how to activate my body and how to assist my recover after long runs and races. I have enjoyed challenging myself by trying the higher levels. I appreciate the informality of the classes and sizes; by this I mean you talking to us during moves and tailoring the class to the needs of the participants. The classes are small enough that we can all interact with you and get to know each other. I also appreciated you lending me equipment before I bought myself and have benefited from learning how to use it properly. I find myself constantly checking my posture at work, running and when sat on my sofa at home!
The best thing about working together is the strengthening of my core. I have noticed a change in my running style and that I feel stronger and have better posture when running”.
Before we started working together I had constant back pain from an old injury. I was worried that Pilates would aggravate the injury and make it worse than it already was but I knew I needed to do something to improve my mobility.
Working with Vicky has been a fun experience. The group is very friendly, with people of different ages, abilities and health issues. I always feel better after a class.
The best thing about working together has been that I have learnt how to use the Pilates exercises at home to relieve back and shoulder pain.
“I had been suffering with low back pain for quite a while and found it very painful carrying out every day tasks. Just before Christmas my back took a turn for the worse and I spent three weeks unable to move in excruciating pain. I sought the help of an Osteopath who then recommended Vicky to me. Not knowing anything about Pilates, I was a little concerned that I would not be able to do all the exercises, but quickly found out that Vicky ensures you work at your own pace and within your own limitations.
Vicky’s classes are small, friendly and welcoming and she is an exceptional teacher with a wealth of knowledge. I particularly like the way Vicky explains the benefit of each exercise.
I am pleased to say I am now pain free and much more flexible. This in turn enables me to enjoy playing with my grandchildren again, getting up and down from the floor with ease!”
Before I started working with Vicky I had lower back pains and was advised by my of osteopath gave Vicky’s pilates classes a go. They had been getting progressively worse over the summer a legacy of old injuries, sitting at desks, and a trip to Zambia which involved camping and uncomfortable beds, I decided I need to do something to sort things out. I also discovered that a friend who cycle a lot also was doing the classes and he gave nothing but praise.
My only reservation was I guess just the unknown really. I wasn’t sure what was involved and how effective it would be.
I like Vickie’s approach, the session are fun an there’s the right balance of work and chat that makes the classes a highlight of the week. Vicky takes time to help individual issues and gauges well how much the class wants to do. There is always much laughter.
The best thing about working together was I quickly realised how little core strength I had, I run and cycle and even though I sort of knew that it was important, I came to realise how out of balance my body was. My back problems have cleared up and I recently completed the Brighton marathon, which only 3 months ago I seriously was beginning to doubt going to happen. I definitely want to continue and build on the base that has been laid down, running the marathon made me appreciate just how vital core strength, body balance and posture are to running. It’s not just about moving your legs.
“Before we started working together things were pretty grim. I had a painful shoulder thigh/hip, the latter a long-term discomfort.
I had no reservations about working with Vicky.
Working together has been good. Exercises are aimed in a subtle way to improve individual problems whilst benefiting the whole class. Cheerful Pilates sessions and no pressure. I also enjoy the weekly newsletter which contains a useful short exercise video and lots of other info. on health and wellbeing.
The best thing about working together is that my pain reduced after a few weeks and with the help of a recommended Osteopath, has improved ten fold. More importantly perhaps is the feel-good factor which follows a Monday morning Pilates session.”
“Vicky is a fun, dynamic and experienced personal trainer and Pilates instructor. Due to her past clinical experience as a nurse she is ideally placed to offer bespoke classes for people recovering from injury or surgery, or just wanting to get fitter and stronger without hurting themselves. She looks after all of her clients with the same attention to detail, making sure that everyone reaches their goal to the fullest and most enjoyable extent. I have built a strong working relationship with Vicky and regularly refer my patients to her for Pilates as I know they will be well looked after by an experienced and caring person, who is always keeping her knowledge up-to-date. Vicky is one of a kind, and I have no hesitation in recommending her.”

“Before I started the classes my back was very sore and went into spasm occasionally.
I was afraid at first that I might hurt my back but Vicky was very gentle with the exercises and did not push me too far.
Working together has been very enjoyable and made me aware of how to move better and I found muscles I did not think I had! The one best thing from working together is I am not afraid to bend down or do things”.
“I came across Vicky’s Pilates classes quite by accident when actually thinking I was at the right venue for Zumba but once I had done my first class I was converted!
Shortly after starting the Pilates classes I sustained a shoulder problem and I definitely think that the Pilates and an osteopath recommendation helped to get me back to fitness. Vicky is a great instructor and her classes are always entertaining. I have learnt a lot from attending, particularly regarding back care.
I would definitely recommend Fitness Function to friends and colleagues”.
“I have a form of arthritis of the spine which limits my spinal movement.
I was concerned that I would I be the ‘wally in the classroom’ and that I would be worse than anyone else, I was also worried in case there would be any discomfort from Pilates.
Vicky has disproved the argument of ‘no pain no gain!’ I do not experience any discomfort, in fact within hours of doing Pilates I feel generally more flexible in my body and better all ‘round which, it seems, for little effort on my part.
The atmosphere in the class is very friendly and easy going, and unhurried .
The best thing about the class is, as already stated, that even after one hour of Pilates, I quickly feel the benefits”.
“I have a lower back problem which I have had for many years, so visit the Chiropractor every three months and sometimes in between if required.
I had no reservations about working with Vicky, but as I had locked my right hip just before attending a Pilates Class I was concerned that I could do more damage if I tried it. I was assured that if I did only what I felt comfortable with, the exercises would be of some help. Vicky proved correct in her assurance and so I was saved a visit to my Chiropractor and a £50 fee.
Vicky is a great motivator and her Pilates classes are fun to take part in. She is very professional, supportive and she works us hard, but it is most enjoyable and I miss it if I can’t make her class.
I now have a stronger back and have saved myself money in the process”.
“Before we started working together I had occasional lower back pain and stiffness in the neck and shoulder area.
I didn’t have reservations as such, just in my ability to undertake some of the exercises.
It is very enjoyable working together, no pressure to ‘perform’, able to work to own level of ability. Classes not too serious although very effective.
Since working together I have less incidence of lower back pain (specifically after moving the lawn) and neck/shoulder area is now much more flexible and comfortable”.
“I first attended Vicky’s classes after the osteopath informed me of my chronic neck tightness and tight muscles around my left hip. I was also recovering from a relapse of my chronic fatigue syndrome, so wanted to get fitter and more stable again. I really enjoy the classes. Vicky covers a big range of exercises and I use some of them regularly at home, especially after sitting a while at the computer.
Vicky has also given me specific exercises for my neck which have been really helpful. I am now much more supple and able to do the harder levels. My hip hasn’t ached for weeks now and my neck is getting more flexible. I really like focusing on my body regularly and knowing moves to help stretch out when my muscles feel tight. I also appreciate the class as the majority of exercises are lying down which suits me if I am tired! Even though the class is fairly strenuous I come out feeling refreshed and relaxed”
“Vicky has been a patient of mine since last year. Over this time we have developed a good working relationship and I have no hesitation in recommending her as a Personal trainer and a Clinical Pilates Instructor.
Due to her experience as a qualified nurse she tailors each session to the individual who attends.
I am very happy about her professionalism and competence skills, she helps a lot of my patients creating a good continuity between osteopathic treatment and the rehabilitation phase.
At the top she projects a friendliness and approachability during her classes enabling the patient to feel comfortable and enjoy the session even more”.

“I have suffered from back pain since I was a teenager who loved riding and regularly fell off horses, dusted myself off and got back on!! Little did I know then, that lasting damage was being done, but in those days, you gritted your teeth and got on with it! Indeed, twenty years further on an x-ray revealed a hairline fracture to one of my lower vertebra, probably caused by one of those falls. So, all this, coupled with a love of all sports, and outdoors life, I think it was always mapped out that I would be in for trouble with not just my back but all moving parts of my body in later life. And so it was!
In my early twenties I had various chiropractors and osteos pummelling and cracking my bones and muscles and a couple of steroid injections in my back, which alleviated but never cured the pain. Then the childbearing and rearing years, and pushing the pain to the back of my mind, I definitely started to ‘go wonky’ and stand badly.
Then I started pilates with Vicky! And what a difference that made! After a skiing holiday with our families, Vicky decided to start teaching pilates and I went along. I am not being flippant, or gushing, but the pilates (which my new osteo had said would help, but I put off going for years) actually strengthened my body and focused my brain, and I started to stand up straight and in Vicky’s word, ‘think rucksack’!
Nowadays, I miss the times when I don’t go, but I do try to do some of the exercises at least once a day, and try to make it a daily ‘thought for the day’. If my back starts to ache, a few stretches and movements, and the pain soon eases off. †Classes with Vicky are for me fun and educational. Vicky has such a wealth of knowledge and understanding and is always coming up with snippets of new information for us to absorb and help to try and understand why bits are not working quite right and how we can help them. She is patient, and doesn’t try to push our boundaries but encourages us to try and go that bit further, within our limits and feelings for the day. She is an inspirational teacher and a joy to follow on a Monday morning when the last thing you might think about is exercise!! Thank you!”
Before I started working with Vicky I was visiting an osteopath every 4-6 weeks. Neck and shoulders were a problem. Can honestly say I have only been back to the osteopath twice.
Working with Vicky has been very enjoyable. Everyone works at their own pace. No pressure to do anymore than you feel you can do.
My best result is that i am more flexible and less pain and discomfort”
